Nintendo Switch’s 4.0 update has added a lot of features. Some Nintendo talked about, and some Nintendo didn’t. One of the features Nintendo didn’t talk about was support for USB devices such as USB headsets.  Some Reddit users such as SoldierOfOrange discovered this feature when they plugged in a USB headset into the Switch. When users plug in a USB headphone into Nintendo Switch’s dock, they see a volume slider appear, and under the volume symbol, it says USB. In a later update, Nintendo might add support for USB headphone microphones too. Nintendo Switch owners don’t like the fact that they have to use the Switch app to use voice chat.

The 4.0 update added many other features such as file transfer and video recording. With the 4.0 update, players can take 30-second clips from their games. Unfortunately, right now this feature works with only four games Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2. To record a clip, press and hold the screenshot button. The last 30 seconds of gameplay will be recorded and saved to the album. Players will be able to trim the video and post it to Facebook or Twitter.

Unfortunately, it only works while the Switch is docked unless you buy a USB-C to USB adapter. So if you want to use the USB headsets while the Switch is not docked, you wouldn’t be able to charge it because the USB-C to USB adapter will be using the port. The other feature added by the 4.0 update is data transfer to a new console. According to Nintendo’s support page, This feature lets you move eShop purchases, save data, and profile to another Switch console. You will be able to choose which user you want to be moved to the new console. The account has to be connected to the account in the source console, not the console that you are going to transfer your files too.
