Forza Horizon 3 runs at native 4k, 30 FPS on the Xbox One X

Forza Horizon 3 looks good on the Xbox One X

Forza Horizon 3 wasn’t the most popular game of 2017 and the Xbox One X wasn’t either. When Microsoft said the Xbox One X is the most powerful console of all time they definitely weren’t lying. The Xbox One X is actually able to play games at native 4k, 30 FPS, medium to high PC prest. At the time of writing this article, it’s impossible to build a PC (without used parts from eBay) that matches the Xbox One X. The Xbox One X doesn’t have a lot of power it’s a little better than the RX 480 and the CPU is very weak but thanks to crazy optimization work some games play at native 4k, 30 FPS and some of the more demanding games run at upscaled 4k. Well, many games have been getting a 4k update for the Xbox One X such as Gears of War 4, Ark Survival Evolved, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Well, Forza Horizon is going to be added to the games with 4k support on the Xbox One X and thanks to Digital Foundry we have learned about more details.

According to Digital Foundry on the Xbox One X Forza Horizon 3 definitely runs at true 4k with no dynamic scaling. Surprisingly the Xbox One X is able to play the game with 4x MSAA. Unfortunately, Forza Horizon 3 runs at 30 FPS but it never dis below 30 FPS. On the Xbox One X Forza Horizon 3 is very close to PC’s ultra preset but it’s not there yet. Apparently the Xbox One X version less samples then PC’s ultra preset. Shadows look very good on the Xbox One X compared to the base Xbox One but they aren’t as good as PC’s ultra preset.  In conclusion, Forza Horizon 3 on the Xbox One X looks very close to the PC ultra preset. To see the difference between the Xbox One X and the ultra PC settings you have to look very closely they aren’t things that you will notice while playing Forza Horizon 3. Right now you can buy the Xbox One X for $499.99 from Amazon.
